Shelby Claire

Dancer / Collaborator

Shelby hails from a small town in Central Missouri. Shelby started training at Columbia Performing Arts Centre at 11 years old, under the direction of Jen Lee. Her favorite style became contemporary after spending three weeks in NYC with Cedar Lake, during the first 360 intensive, under the direction of Benoit-Swan Pouffer. She attended The Boston Conservatory, and graduated in 2017 with a BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance. During her time at the Conservatory she studied and immersed herself in a variety of dance styles, and found with each one a new tool to add to her knowledge of dance. In Boston she worked with renowned choreographers such as Brian Brooks, Zoe Scofield, Darrell Moultrie and Holly Wilder. Shelby was featured in Wilder’s work “The Weight,” which premiered in February, 2015. In August of that year, “The Weight” was produced as Wilder Project’s first film; one of many that Claire has been featured in. Her most popular film, “The Field,” was written by Claire herself, and collaborated with Holly Wilder as director. Shelby wants to share her love for the arts and to follow her purpose in life, in her father’s honor.
